The sophomore, a transfer student, had been undergoing personal problems and sought council with the teacher. They then exchanged phone numbers to continue their conversation and in less than a month had exchanged over 800 text messages. The two met up one night and performed sex acts in the student’s car. The scandal was uncovered when the student revealed their actions to his uncle.   1. Going into the position of teachers and educators, it is very important to not only be aware of how you see your relationship with students, but also how other's see it. It is important to maintain a certain level of professionalism inside and outside of work. As I mentioned in Doug's article, even if you are not "on duty" or outside of your job, others will still associate you as representing the organization you are a part of.
