I am not sure if I posted this correctly. I thought this was an intersting presentation. His "mum" made a comment that inspired this video. I did not verify if his information was true.

One thing he did that I thought was great was the bit about Dennis Hope. I could see that grabbing the attention of a student. Like Tristan's teacher telling her about the "horse squashing" thing.

  3. ...poor little doggie Laika... RIP

This young man is amazing! It's strange to think that all over the world millions of teens are spending hours upon hours holed up in their rooms with their computers. Some are spending endless hours playing video games like World of Warcraft [or getting into who knows what other mischief]. This fellow, on the other hand... well, I cant help but wonder where he'll be a few years down the road

  4. Doug - funny:)

Anita - I agree! I will check back every now and then to see if he adds more Fun Science clips. Did I correctly cite this? I wasn't completely sure about how to cite a video clip.

  5. How fun! I love that he called Dennis Hope a "silly-head". Something like this would be a great project for older students - instead of a book report or some sort of essay project, why not let students pick some topic that they are interested it (science or otherwise) and produce a little video about it!

    P.S. Very funny, Doug :)

  7. This kid's videos are great! My son, Thomas, showed me one the other day. And he is also friends with the cast of (our favorite show) "Dr. Who" and gave them each Christmas presents this last year.

What I have seen amongst kids is that those who just want to play games on it will do so, but those who want to use it as a tool for finding knowledge and pursuing their interests will use for that purpose as well as playing games. And if monitored by the parents and is recognized as a privilege, kids will use it as an resource and not just as a waste of time.
