According to Education Week, March 30, 2011, Kipp and the union reached a deal. In the original article I posted there was disputes over hours worked and compensation. With the new agreement a Kipp teacher will be paid 20% more than a Balitmore teacher. Kipp teachers work 9 hour days and teach summer school for 18 days.

I was happy to see they were able to find a solution. In the original article Kipp was threatening to close both schools if it couldn't settle on a long-term contract.

I posted the above few days ago and then read something I thought would make a nice addition.

It is just a blog post about receiving many pink slips throughout her career. It is insightful because it is from her direct experience. I think it goes along nicely with the original article.

I decided to just do a new post rather then add to the comments sections of the original articles because I wasn't sure they would be seen. Hope you find this helpful.
