  1. Merit pay, Interventions, Progress Monitoring, Inclusion, Teacher Ranking, Federal Standards (Common Core Standards), Federal Testing - these are some of the things I hear conversations about around the school I work in.

  2. Funding and how it will alter education. What will the public's response to continued funding cuts be? Will we see a rise in charter schools, private schools or homeschooling?

  3. The theme at the COFLT/WAFLT joint language teachers' conference I attended last year was "Language Learning 2.0," and the keynote speaker Toni Theisen gave an exciting speech about technology. A few of the workshops were a little less exciting, but overall I think people are doing -- and trying to do -- a lot of valuable, novel things with all these new tools that keep coming out.

  4. Funding - cuts in the arts, phys ed, etc., technology, school choice, sustainability, standardized testing, and the achievement gap.

  5. OK, I think I finally have the hang of this Blog thing and I think I registered correctly! I may have to have some of you double-check what I did! :)

I believe some of the hot topics in education will be teachers' pay, tenure, No Child Left Behind and whether its standardized testing is truly beneficial, cuts in Education Funding, inability to hire more teachers due to budget cutbacks and the resulting bigger class sizes, how states, cities and counties will make up the lack of school funding and how schools can do more with less.

  6. Differences between Public School and Private School testing. I have been recently reading that most people believe there is no difference in student testing and performance...

  8. Og good, finally! I think teacher pay as it related to standardized test scores will be a major hot topic. Teachers will become more and more fired up and I see an explosion around NCLB as a result.

  9. I think ESOL teaching, and how to balance students' daily performace and test-taking skills are hot topics. One is the topic related to English Language Learners, and the other is related to NCLB policy.
